Angel
"grandfarther was one of the brave men who suffered hardship and travelled far to open up Austrailia for us. He had a sense of adventure and made a success of life." said by Jerry Angel; grandson ,
Angel was a member of Hume and Hovell's expedition in 1824 which established an overland route from Sydney to Port Phillip, and opened up for settlement many parts of Australia, including the area in which Lake Albert is now situated. In the late 1860's Angel returned to live in the Wagga Wagga district, settling with his family west of Lake Albert, where some of his desendants have lived ever since.


Brunskill
"the Brunskill's have been pioneers of agricuitural and pastoral methods in Australia. Our mother encouraged us to be original and plan to improve our farming techniques . She taught us to be honest and hard working. By her example she showed us the merits of good Christian living." said J.O. Brunskill; daughter,
Mrs Brunskills were a member of one of the pioneer families of the eastern Riverina. Born in 1866 , she married Christopher Hodgson Brunskill who took up land near the village of Lake Albert. Members of the Brunskill family have become well known over the years for their participation in the community life of the district, as well as being noted pastoralists and world-renowned stud sheep breeeders. During her life spand, 97 years, Mrs. Brunskill experienced both the joys and hardship which accompanied those rugged pioneering days. Her life , and those of her ancestors, can be seen as inspirations to future generations.

Blamey, Graham





Blamey
"determination is a general characerstic of the Blamey faimily. Sir Thomas was determined to succeed. My farther believed in analising all siuations and problemes. He become the highest ranking military officer in Austrilia." Born at Lake Albert in 1884, he completed school in Wagga Wagga and was appointed as a pupil-teacher at Lake Albert School . After later appointments to Newtown (now South Wagga) , Rosewood and Fremantle (WA), he joined the AMF in 1906. During World War 1, he rose to the rank of Brigadier-General . In 1925, he became Commissioner of the Police in Victoria, a post he resigned in 1936. Recalled to the Army in 1939 he was named G.O.C. 6th division A.L.F. In 1941 he became Commander in Chief on the Australian forces in the Pacific, a post he held until 1946. In 1949 he was promoted to the rank of Field Marshall the First Australian Soldier to be so honoured .


Graham
"my husband gave service to the community as a member of Parliment for 17 years. He held the position of Minister for Agriculture for a record term of 14 years. He was a man of warmth and a friend to all in need." said J.E.Graham; wife
Born at Lake Albert in 1879 and attended his first classes at the school. He later assumed prominence in a number of primary producer organisations, including the Federal Presidency of the Austrialian Pig Breeders Society . He entered State Parliament in 1941, became Minster for Agriculture in 1944 and remainded in that office for a record term until his death in 1957.
